What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Question:

Pastor, If a person is saved by Jesus, and Dies before he receives water Baptism. What is his destiny?

Answer:

Hello ,

I want to thank you first of all for visiting our website, and thank you for asking your question. Thank you for your interest in the truth. I hope that the things said in this e-mail will help you, and if you wish to ask more questions, then feel free to write back at any time you wish.

Your question is: "If a person is saved by Jesus, and Dies before he receives water Baptism. What is his destiny?" I wish to commend you for your interest in man's eternal destiny. Many are not thinking in spiritual/eternal terms these days, but you are and this is great. Unfortunately, your question assumes something that the Bible does not teach, namely that one can be saved before he is baptized.

In such passages as Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38, 22:16; I Peter 3:21; etc., we find the Bible teaching that in order to be saved one must be baptized for the remission of sins. While this is not the only (sole) step necessary for one to be saved, it is a part of the Lord's plan for man's salvation. While it is very popular with men, the doctrine which says one can be saved by Jesus one day and then be baptized another day is not found in the Bible anywhere.

If one dies before and without baptism, one's eternal destiny is an eternity without God, separated from Him forever, in darkness and torment, in "the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." For more information on this subject, please feel free to visit our page entitled: What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Thank you for your letter, and please feel free to write back again when you get the chance. Have a nice day.

Sincerely,
Jarrod Jacobs
