What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Comments:

Hello and good morning, just a quick question? Is it scripture that we are
not to have choirs in the church?  If so where is it.

Answer:

Hello ________,

To answer your question, choirs (also: soloists, etc.) are not Scriptural. This is because God told us all to sing. When we read Colossians 3:16 or Ephesians 5:19, we see that this is a command that all people sing, not just one or a small group. We're suposed to be "teaching and admonishing one another" in our singing. This happens when we are all singing.

God is no respecter of persons (Acts
10:34; Rom. 2:11), and whatever He told me to do, He told you to do, and vice versa. Therefore, when God said to sing, He was telling us all to sing, not just one or a small group of people. Furthermore, when we select a few people to be in a choir, and the rest of the group watches, then how can the rest of the group fulfill the Lord's command to sing, wherein we are "teaching and admonishing one another"? It can't be done!

Therefore, based upon God's command that all the group sing, we can understand that choirs (soloists, etc.) are not authorized of God.

Hope this helps you. Have a good day. Please feel free to write again if you'd like.

Sincerely,
Jarrod Jacobs
