What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Question: "i have a friend who told me it was hard for him to beleive the bible because he does
not understand how we know that the bible is really true. He is not very trusting of just having
faith, he wants evidence that the bible is real, what should i tell him?"
Answer:
Hello,
We live in a society which does not respect God's word at all, and therefore, it is hard from some
to believe the word of God. Since our society says that God's word is not true, why should people
go against the majority and believe the Bible? At least, this is the thinking of many. However, I
believe there are many "proofs" that would be convincing to the honest soul.
- Take your friend outside and show him around. The Bible says, "The heavens declare the glory
of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork" (Ps. 19:1). We must understand that if
something is made, it requires a maker. If your friend wears a watch, he must recognize that
someone made the watch. The same is true with his house. He might have never met the actual
builder of the house he lives in, but I imagine he believes in the existence of that builder! So also is
this true with the physical world around us. The fact that it exists and we exist declares that there
is a maker. (Ps. 33:6-9)
- Since we have One who made us, could He not then convey His word in such a way that men
can understand it? Of course, He could! And, He has. We are encouraged to read and search the
Scriptures (Jn. 5:39; Eph. 3:4). Why? Because when we do so, we will find the truth (Jn. 17:17).
- Further, to simply prove that the Bible itself is a true document, you can show him huge
amounts of archaeological proof that the Bible is true. If you have MS Publisher, or a program
that would read such downloads, I could send an attached file to you that has 9 pages of material
I put together concerning whether or not the Bible we are reading is true, (Both internal and
external evidence)
In the meantime, you might look for a book written by Josh McDowell entitled: "Evidence
That Demands A Verdict." It is excellent. There are also websites which give you much
information along this line. Just type in something like "Biblical Evidences" into a search engine,
and you'd be amazed at the results.
Thank you for visiting the website. I hope you'll come back and visit again soon. Thank you for
writing to me. I hope this will help you, and if you can read Publisher as an attached file, let me
know.
Sincerely,
Jarrod Jacobs
