Question:
Did Jesus actually promise that a Christian will go to Heaven?
Answer:
Yes He did. Jesus promised that where He is, we could be too. In John 14:1-3, we read: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and
receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
Further, we find this truth stated by Paul. When he wrote to the Thessalonians, he told them not to sorrow as others who had no hope (I Thess. 4:13). He then spoke of the 2nd coming of the Lord, at which time, "the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (I Thess. 4:16-17). The righteous, Paul said, will go and be "with the Lord" forever! Where is the Lord going to be? Will He be in Heaven? Of course, He
will; and when the Lord returns, He will be taking His children with Him to Heaven. This is what Paul taught. The question to ask is whether or not you are ready for eternity? If you're not a Christian, then you're not
ready. Repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins today so that you can look forward to an eternity
with Christ in Heaven (Acts 2:38)!
