What Must I Do To Be Saved?

FROM: 5/5/02 Radio Program

Question:

When people stand at the day of judgment, will they see three beings?

Answer:

From time to time, we are asked questions for which the Bible does not have an answer. This is a prime example. Concerning the day of judgment, we are told some specific things about it (Matt. 25:31-46; Rom. 2:1-16; etc.). However, "who" we'll see on that day is not necessarily told to us. We know, based on John 5:22, 27 that Christ will be the judge on that day (also: Acts 17:30-31). However, we are not told as to who we might or might not see. Conjecture might lead one to say, "Of course, you'll see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit there." Or, we might be tempted to say, "Why not see all of them there?" However, that is all it would be - conjecture to give a definite answer to this question. Since we live by faith, and this faith comes by hearing the word of God (Rom. 10:17), we must go only by what the Bible has said (I Pet. 4:11); and it has been silent on how many we will see on the day of Judgment.
