What Must I Do To Be Saved?

FROM: 4/13/03 Radio Program

Question:

If we are still alive when we have died, then when Jesus died was He still alive?

Answer:

Yes, He was! Remember that at His death, He said, "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit" (Lk. 23:46). Isn't this in essence what Solomon has said when he wrote, "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it" (Ecc. 12:7)?

The body of Jesus died (Jas. 2:26), and it was buried (Matt. 27:57-60). In Peter's sermon in Acts 2, he speaks of Christ's soul entering Hades. It was still alive, while His flesh was left behind. Yet, it did not see corruption (Acts 2:27-31), and Christ resurrected from the grave the third day!
