The Purpose Of Our Website

Welcome to the website of the Southside church of Christ. This website is something we are using in an effort to spread the gospel to the lost (Mark 16:15; II Timothy 2:2, 4:2). We hope this will be beneficial to you in your daily life. In thinking about this work, I thought it would be good to catalog a few reasons why this teaching tool is necessary.

1. BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME WHO HAVE NEVER COME TO CHRIST:

It is clear that there are some who have never heard the "glorious gospel of the blessed God" (I Timothy 1:11). Hopefully, this teaching tool will help them to come to a knowledge of the Truth before it is too late.

2. TO PROVIDE MEN AND WOMEN WITH LESSONS THAT APPLY TODAY:

We need to understand that the Bible is not a book for "old" people, nor is it a book that is outdated. The Word of God is alive and powerful, and has lessons for us in the 21^st century (Hebrews 4:12). What would you like to study? Please read carefully the following pages of Bible lessons, and perhaps the things we have posted will be helpful in your Bible study. Too, please contact us, and we will be glad to discuss and study your Bible-based questions with you.

3. TO TAKE AWAY AN AVENUE OF INFLUENCE FROM SATAN:

Satan lays claim to so many things in this world (I John 2:15-17), and not the least of which is the Internet. This site is a means by which we can take some things from him! There is no better way to do this than to publish and distribute Bible lessons and studies through this medium so that people will know the truth and will live by it (Ephesians 3:4; II Timothy 2:15; John 8:31-32).

4. TO SHOW PEOPLE THE TRUE WAY TO CHRIST:

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father, but by me" (John 14:6). He also said, "I am the door" (John 10:9). When He talked about ways to Heaven, He said there was only ONE way, the "strait and narrow" way (Matthew 7:13-14). The only other choice is the broad way that leads to destruction. Of course, everyone will make their choice as to which way they will go, but this website is intended to point people toward the strait and narrow path that leads to life everlasting!

5. TO PROVIDE AN OCCASION FOR BIBLE STUDY:

Nothing on this website will be said or claimed without a "thus saith the Lord." Anything else is insulting to God and destructive to man! Only by going to the Bible for the answers can we find true knowledge. Therefore, through this website, we provide:

A. Occasions for Private Bible studies (If you live in or around Daviess county, please write us to request a private Bible study.)

B. Occasions for Public discussions of issues (The truth has nothing to fear from an open examination of the Scriptures, and we are "set for the defense of the gospel", Philippians 1:17.)

C. Correspondence courses in which one may enroll (Online course; Request a correspondence course through snail mail.)

D. A page which has the times of services for the Southside church of Christ, as well as a map to the church building.

E. A page which records past questions answered on our radio program. If you'd like, submit a question to be answered on our radio program, which is aired from 12:30-1:00 PM on WBIO, 94.7 FM, every Sunday afternoon.

F. A page which posts current and past issues of our teaching bulletin, "The Old Paths."

G. Other pages which have several Bible-based lessons for your personal study. (See the menu on our home page.)

All of these things we do to provide men and women with ample opportunities to study and read God's word!

We at the Southside church of Christ hope that this website will be beneficial to all who read its contents in their pursuit and faithful adherence to the truth of God's word!
